Overview
Halkayan Industry and Trading PLC is an Ethiopian trader/exporter involved in agricultural commodities and pharmaceuticals with plans to manufacture locally and expand its pharmaceutical operations near Addis Ababa.
The company exports agricultural products such as chickpeas, beans, seeds, turmeric, pulses and oilseeds to regional markets including Morocco, Uganda, India and Ghana, and currently distributes pharmaceutical products with plans to establish local manufacturing.
It has started constructing a nine-floor building on land acquired in Addis Ababa and operates a pharmaceutical manufacturing factory about 20 km from the city, with its head office housed in the building of its sister company in Lideta, Addis Ababa.
